MY NEW FAVORITE THING - KIWI
The kiwifruit is a small fruit approximately 3 inches long and weighing about four ounces. Its green flesh is almost creamy in consistency with an invigorating taste reminiscent of strawberries, melons and bananas, yet with its own unique sweet flavor.
It's packed with more vitamin C than an equivalent amount of orange. Eating vitamin C-rich fruit such as kiwi may confer a significant protective effect against respiratory symptoms associated with asthma such as wheezing.
The bright green flesh of the kiwifruit speckled with tiny black seeds adds a dramatic tropical flair to any fruit salad. California kiwifruit is available November through May, while the New Zealand crop hits the market June through October making fresh kiwis available year round.
Native to China, kiwifruits were originally known as Yang Tao. They were brought to New Zealand from China by missionaries in the early 20th century with the first commercial plantings occurring several decades later. In 1960, they were renamed Chinese Gooseberries.
PLUS, THEY MAKE A GREAT SNACK AND THEY MATCH MY BLOG. . . .

ZOO SAFARI
It seems as though I take these same pictures about every 3 years. My camera is getting better and my son is getting bigger. As you will see, I have a fondness for the birds. Well, they ARE the most photogenic - not to mention hygenic. Plus, look how well the lorakeets match my blog. (they look like mini parrotts)
And who woulda thought we'd be feeding a giraffe right here in little ol' Brevard County. Unique.
Afterwards, Charles, his friend and I went to Incredible pets and they fell in love with the ferrets and I fell in love with a particular grey parrot that was only a mere $899. They let you hold the animals so you really get to bond. Maybe one day . . .
